Emma + Josh :: Midwest Fall Wedding

Emma and Josh’s wedding was so much fun to photograph! After their original venue informed they they couldn’t have their wedding there due to COVID, a wonderful friend offered their barn as a ceremony site. It was a lovely, white, wooden barn next to fall colored tree line. Since their venue cancelled, they only had their wedding party and family members attend their wedding. Emma was such a trooper throughout the whole day. The quote for the day was, “It’s fine.” I think that quote can apply to most of 2020!

Emma had rockin’ stoned and studded cowgirl boots. And their wedding bands were so unique! Josh’s ring had moose on it! Another detail that was awesome was the fact that Emma’s “wedding dress” was from AMAZON! It was a tule skirt paired with a white blouse. And it was PERFECT!! Talk about being chic on a budget!

Their ceremony was simple and small. And their love is big and beautiful!

After the ceremony, we had a wonderful time with their portraits. The barn owner also let them borrow their PINK VOLKSWAGEN VAN! It was such a special detail to have for photos. And it complimented Emma’s boho side. That will definitely be a wedding detail to remember!

Even though this year has been a little bit crazy, Josh and Emma made their special day happen. I was so honored to be a part of it.

It was an honor to capture these moments for you both! Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Stewart!!

May God bless your lives together.

The Miller Family :: Fall Family Session :: Fall in Indiana

I laughed so much during this session! The Miller family just knows how to laugh! Sessions like this always validate my love for family sessions and my love for my clients. I have photographed this family since their oldest was a newborn! I love when I have that established relationship with clients. It makes EVERYTHING run more smoothly! The parents already know what to expect before the session even starts. They understand that I get those poses of everyone looking and smiling and then… We play! We snuggle! We giggle!

I also love it when Mom and Dad just walk away and let me interact with their children. Here are the reasons why:

  1. The children pay attention to me and look at my camera. They aren’t looking towards Mom and Dad.

  2. The children and I can make connections with each other. We become friends. So then, when I put them back together with the whole group, they usually trust me and follow my directions.

  3. With those connections, the children have a better chance of remembering me at future sessions.

  4. It’s less stress on Mom and Dad. They don’t have to stand behind me trying to get their children to look and smile. Now granted, there are some instances where I do have a parent stand close so their child doesn’t get nervous. But, it’s my job to get the child to smile….not Mom or Dad.

This session had everything listed above! And Mom sent me a text after the session that said, “Little sister said she loves you. She said you’re one of her best friends”. —and isn’t that just the SWEETEST thing!! My heart melted with she told me that.

My goal at every session is to make everyone feel comfortable and relaxed during their time in front of the camera. I am a very laid back person. I understand how the minds of little ones work and try to always make them have fun. Bottom line….stress free!

Kyle + Taylor :: Midwest Summer Wedding

Kyle and Taylor had a beautiful late summer wedding. The day was warm, sunny and bright. Taylor selected purple and silver for their wedding colors. The purple was a deep, royal purple. Their ceremony was held at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greensburg, Indiana. The ceremony was lovely!

Following the ceremony, we headed to the Hatton Family Farm to take a some wedding party photos and then spent some time just focusing on Kyle and Taylor. They were so easy going and just enjoyed each other and their day. Since they had engagement photos taken with me, we were able to get to know each other and learn how the day would go. They knew what to expect with photos and I also knew the best way to pose them. If you are a recently engaged bride or groom, I highly recommend getting engagement photos taken with your wedding photographer.

After leaving the family farm, we headed to one more spot before getting to the reception. The Westport Covered Bridge! I loved this little spot. It was great for a few of just the couple and then the whole wedding party. Taylor really wanted the champagne photo. I love how that one turned out! You can see the happiness from the day coming to life in that one photo!

Their reception took place at the Venue On Three. This is the first time I have shot at this reception location. It was beautiful! Congratulations Kyle and Taylor!!

The Noles Family - Greensburg, Indiana Family Photographer

This family is seriously the sweetest!! Those girls! :) They just melt my heart. Mom and Dad wanted their session at their family home. It was the perfect setting for an evening session. And those willow trees were gorgeous with the sun coming through! Anthony planted them himself and I’m going to admit, I am a little jealous. He is going to have to teach me how.

Their youngest daughter was so cute. When it wasn’t her turn in front of the camera, she was right by me, interested in what I was doing and wanting to be a big helper. There were giggles from everyone! I love when family sessions are stress free and enjoyable for everyone! That is always my goal when shooting…no matter if it’s a family session, a senior, or even a wedding. I want the atmosphere to be inviting and relaxing.

Barker Family - Greensburg, Indiana Family Photographer

The Barker Family was so fun to hang out with during their session. These boys were great! Of course, who wouldn’t want to go wading into a creek and go on a fun adventure? We were ankle deep in water and loving every minute! Mom and Dad were troopers and very go with the flow. That made my job easier as we just had a good time. The boys were just being boys!
